Pelvic health conditions can be complex and require specialized care.
Most people with pelvic health problems are frustrated, scared, confused and nervous.
You may have gone years without sharing your pelvic concern with anyone. You may have even tried treatments, surgeries or therapies that didn’t help you. You may have asked for help and been given no answers. We understand your frustrations and we understand your pelvic health problem.
Effective therapy for the wide variety of pelvic health conditions we treat requires extensive education and training beyond that of a standard physical therapist. At PelvicSmart, due to the specialized therapy that we provide, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of training and nationally recognized certification processes. We feel that this demonstrates to our patients and our referral sources the responsibility we feel when you entrust us with your pelvic health care.
PelvicSmart has offices in Danville, Kentucky and Frankfort, Kentucky to provide specialized pelvic health therapy for women and children throughout central Kentucky.
Meet the Team
The founder of PelvicSmart, Rebecca Kurk, PT, DPT, has been treating pelvic health conditions since 2008. She has been proud to provide specialized pelvic floor physical therapy for a wide variety of pelvic health populations at the Ephraim McDowell Wellness Center for the past 7 years. Rebecca was thrilled to open up her own practice in Danville, Kentucky in January 2023 to further her belief that expert healthcare can (and should) be obtainable right here in our small towns. We are beyond excited to already be expanding into a second location, in Frankfort, Kentucky, in September 2023.
Rebecca has both a Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Health PT and in Obstetric PT from the American Physical Therapy Association’s Academy of Pelvic Health. She is also a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and has certification as a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist.
Rebecca has a passion for anatomy and physiology education, having been adjunct faculty at Centre College and Eastern Kentucky University. She has also been adjunct faculty for the University of Southern California, teaching for their pelvic health residency program internationally.
Rebecca and James (our practice manager and medical illustrator for PelvicSmart Education) have been married for 15 years and are thrilled to be able to combine the things they love into a health care and education practice right here in Central KY.

James Kurk, Practice Manager and Medical Illustrator for PelvicSmart Education
James has a Master’s degree in Education, studied human anatomy and art in college and later returned to school to become a registered nurse, where he currently serves as an ICU charge nurse for Ephraim McDowell Health. James’ combination of art skills, health and anatomy expertise, and background in education is a perfect combination to lead the patient education portion of PelvicSmart Rehabilitation and Wellness by designing the patient education materials and resources that are used in our practice.
Since we believe that you cannot fix a problem you don’t understand, it is James’ goal to present educational content in a way that is both informative and pleasant to look at. No boring anatomy textbooks here… although we actually think anatomy textbooks are pretty awesome.
James also holds down the fort these days at PelvicSmart as the practice manager, to free up Rebecca’s time to focus on patient care.
