Am I Too Old (Or Too Young) For Pelvic PT?

One word: Nope.

One thing I like to tell my patients is that if you have a pelvis and you have a pelvic problem, then you can do pelvic therapy.

When some folks weren’t quite sure what a pelvis was, I would sometimes go on to say “if you have an area you cover with underwear, you can do pelvic therapy.”

Then my hilarious patients reminded me that not everyone wears underwear….and that’s A-OK!

So I will just say it this way….pelvic therapy is for everyone! Women, men, gender diverse people, kids….if you have a pelvic problem that interferes with your quality of life, pelvic PT may be a good option for you.

And it is never too late or too early! I often have patients who say “I should have addressed this problem 20 years ago - it is too late now!” Or I work with college athletes who say “I haven’t even have a baby yet, why am I leaking when I play my sport?” Additionally. many people are surprised to learn that pelvic health PT can (and should!) be considered for kids, adolescents, and teens with certain bowel, bladder, and pain concerns.

During my career as a pelvic PT, the youngest patient I have treated was 3 years old and the oldest was 98 years old. And both of these awesome patients had excellent outcomes! So it is never too early or too late to fix your pelvic problem.
