Pelvic Floor and Core Physical Therapy

Solving pelvic floor and core problems in women:

Pelvic floor and core conditions commonly seen in females benefit most from a combination of manual therapy (internal and/or external), therapeutic exercises, and patient education. We also frequently use surface EMG biofeedback to help our patients know what their pelvic floor and core muscles are doing when they exercise and when they do functional activities.

Common pelvic floor and core conditions in females treated at PelvicSmart include:

  • Urinary conditions: Stress, urge and mixed incontinence, urinary frequency during the day and night, urinary urgency

  • Bowel conditions: Bowel incontinence, gas incontinence, constipation

  • Pelvic organ prolapse

  • Core muscle weakness and DRA (abdominal muscle separation)

  • Pain conditions:

    • Pelvic pain with intimacy, tampons, or gynecological exams

    • Pelvic girdle pain (SI pain, pubic symphysis pain)

    • Buttocks or tailbone pain with sitting

    • Muscular-related abdominal pain

    • Back, hip, and groin pain
