Pelvic Floor and Core Physical Therapy for Women

Most people only think of pelvic floor physical therapy related to pregnancy and post partum (see below!) but there are many more times and situations in a woman’s life when pelvic floor and core PT can help.

We treat pelvic floor conditions in people with vaginal/vulvar anatomy regarding issues related to urination (leakage, pain, frequency, urgency), bowel movements (leakage, constipation), pelvic pain with intimacy, tampons, or gynecological exams, prolapse symptoms, buttock or tailbone pain with sitting, core weakness or abdominal muscle separation, certain types of abdominal pain, as well as pain in the low back, groin, or hips.

Pregnancy and Postpartum PT

Pregnancy is amazing! The aches and pains…not so much. There is so much that can be done during and after pregnancy to make this awesome time in your life even more amazing. And there is so much that can (and should!) be done after delivery to help your body heal and recover from childbirth, whether vaginal or Cesarean. Do not believe the people who tell you that leaking after having a baby is normal or that intimacy “will never be the same" after having a baby. PT can help!

Rebecca holds both a Certificate of Achievement in Obstetric PT as well as additional certification as a Certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise specialist, so whatever you are dealing with during and after pregnancy, we can help!

Pediatric Pelvic Health Physical Therapy

Does your child have pooping or peeing problems? Do you feel like your kid “never got potty trained” since they are still having accidents into elementary school or beyond? Does your adolescent or teen deal with constipation or painful bowel movements? Is your child missing school due to abdominal pain? Lots of times, these are issues that can be addressed in pelvic therapy.

Specialized Musculoskeletal PT

Orthopedic and musculoskeletal problems like pain in the back, hips, ribs, and even the knees and feet are often addressed in pelvic health PT. Why? Because alignment, mobility, strength, and appropriate muscle firing patterns throughout the whole body are critical for pelvic region support and function.

We often find that pelvic conditions (like pelvic pain, prolapse, and leakage) go hand in hand with orthopedic dysfunctions, like core muscle concerns and hip, SI and back pain.  As experts in pelvic health therapy, we know that correcting both issues is often required to get to the root cause of the condition and provide long term recovery.
